Faith Community Nursing (FCN) Ministry for Plymouth Alliance Church

Mission

To reflect Christ's compassion by caring for body, mind, and spirit within the church family. It is not medical care but a ministry of encouragement, education, and support and to walk alongside brothers and sisters in Christ during times of illness, transition, or need.
Picture
The Nursing Ministry offers support, education, and guidance from a registered nurse for members of the congregation during times of illness or health concerns.
What the Faith Community Nursing Ministry Is:
Focused on education, support, and presence, not on hands-on clinical care, to those who desire it and approach those in this ministry for such help. The intent is to serve God through serving fellow congregants by:
  • Helping them interpret and understand medical information
  • Reviewing written education materials
  • Serving as a "second set of ears" at medical appointments when requested
  • Offering guidance and clarifications
  • Providing visitation and prayer (as an adjunct to the pastors and elders) to the elderly, recovering, and/or shut-ins in the congregation
What the Faith Community Nursing Ministry Is Not:
Focused on education, support, and presence, not on hands-on clinical care, to those who desire it and approach those in this ministry for such help. The intent is to serve God through serving fellow congregants by:
  • It does not involve hands-on nursing care, clinical procedures, or treatments
  • It does not exist for transportation to appointments

Education

Education will be the primary role of the FCN nurse.

Congregants of any age and with any health concern can contact the FC nurse to accompany them to appointments at medical facilities or with health care providers, to act as a "second set of ears" and/or to help interpret information about diagnoses, treatments, procedures, medications, testing, etc.

Accompaniment will be conducted only upon the request of the congregant, with the understanding that the nurse is acting as a professional in this role (not as a means of transportation to appointments or as a curious friend) and under strict privacy (ie, following HIPAA Law and guidelines).

All FCN nurses are registered nurses (RN) with an active State of Wisconsin RN license.

Visitation

The FCN Ministry Team can provide visitation and prayer support to the elderly, recovering, and/or shut-ins in the congregation in addition to that of the In addition to the pastor and elders.

These FCN team members may include non-licensed health care providers and volunteers.

Volunteers

If you are an RN and are interested in joining a team of volunteers, please fill out an application. We will be in touch to discuss our goals and needs.
