Investing Time with God
Developing the Discipline of Quiet Time
This group is intended for those who do not have a regular habit or schedule of spending quiet time with God but would like to develop that habit. The group will follow a daily schedule of biblical readings, learn methods of meditation on God’s word, and gather weekly to share experiences in the effort to develop the habit and share what has been gleaned from God’s Word.
Lessons will be covered on a variety of spiritual discipline/formation topics including sanctification, meditation, identity in Christ, personal understanding, and spiritual gifts. Accountability is part of the process of this group, therefore, attendees will be expected to actively participate in the weekly assignments and sharing. Success in investing time with God will be reflected by the willingness to commit. Some weeks will include light reading from other sources.
The ultimate goal of this group is to deepen the relationship between the believer and the Father through practicing the discipline of quiet time and learning how to hear him speak through Scripture.
Access to the internet and email will be necessary for this group.
This is a twelve week program, however, depending upon the response and desire of the group, it may be extended beyond that.
Two meetings will be offered depending upon interest.
Friday mornings, 9-10:30 am, beginning September 9
Monday evenings, 6:30 - 8 pm, beginning September 12
Meetings will begin at the church but may move to homes as the weeks progress if home opportunities become available.
